Event: Race for Sport Conference
Location: Institute for Education, London
Date: Thursday 26 September 2013

On Thursday 26 September 2013, a delegation from the NSOCA was invited to attend a conference held by Mr Peter Herbert a well known barrister and representative of many footballers. The gathering was in regards to racism in sport, especially football and ways of bringing about a solution. There were many distinguished people who were present including Judge Morris Overstreet, from the USA, US Attorney Mr John Robotham who together spoke on how they in the USA dealt with racism in the early years of black people in American sports.  The NSOCA was represented by Mr W E. Rhoden, Mr Anthony McKen, Ms Claudine Lewis and Mrs Bernadette Raggatt. The gathering did give us a chance to discuss many important topics in regards to the NSOCA’s own development programs and also to meet with many people from the football world including football agent Stephen Sodje, who is one of Africa’s most influential football agents who represents a number of football players in the UK.

If you would like to keep up with the NSOCA’s association with the football world, we will be attending the African and Caribbean footballers Gala on the 9th November 2013.  Watch this space!

Our thanks go out to all the people who we met at the Race for Sport conference and those who made this gathering a success for the right reasons.
