Caribbean and African Footballers Gala News in Brief
On Saturday 9th November members of the NSOCA attended the 1st Annual AFCAR Gala which was held at the Hilton Kensington Hotel. AFCAR is a charitable organisation that raises funds through football projects. One of its fund raising events is the annual football match between African and Caribbean footballers. The Gala was well supported with more than 200 people attending. The event had a great atmosphere about it, with many models on parade; guests were able to meet people such as the newly crowned Miss Black Africa, a very beautiful lady all 6’ 2 inches of her. The NSOCA delegation wasted no time in greeting many footballers who were present, such as former Manchester United goal ace Andy Cole, former West Bromwich Albion Legend Cyril Regis, and his nephew Jason Roberts.
It was an evening that gave the NSOCA’s delegation the chance to discuss our own plans of cultural development and possible ways how AFCAR would be able to assist us in our drive towards a better tomorrow for our communities. We would also like to specially thank Baroness Rosalind Howell and former radio one presenter ‘DJ Spoony’ and all those who took the time to speak with us on the night.
Photographs of the event can be seen in our gallery.
