McKenzie Friend
What is a McKenzie friend?
Anyone involved in a family law case in court is entitled to represent themselves in court and if they chose to do this, they are termed a litigant in person (L.I.P). A L.I.P may be accompanied by someone to help them and this person is called a, McKenzie friend, named after the case which established the principles in 1970.
***Be warned it is best to have a McKenzie friend who is legally trained and is knowledgeable of court procedures***
We at NSOCA can provide the services of a McKenzie friend to advise and support you on this journey and help in preparing the case before hand and to sit alongside you in court.
